The Top contingents in 2007 & 2008 Barangay and School levels are qualified to join the Open Category and shall perform in the showdown at Bacolod Public Plaza.

Judging - street dance and showdown/Arena performance.
Criteria for judging the street dance:

* dance consistency - 10%
* choreography - 15 %
* performance (showmanship, mastery, unity) 15%
* production design (mask, costume, props) 10 %

Criteria for judging the arena performance

* Theme/concept (adherence to the 2008 festival theme/ concept) 10%
* Choreography 15%
* Performance (showmanship, mastery, unity) 15
* Production design (mask, costume, props) 10%

Prizes for the Masskara Festival for the Open and Barangay Category

* 1st prize (P100,000)
* 2nd prize (P75,000)
* 3rd prize (P50,000)

Prizes for the Schools Category of the Masskara Festival
